Base Camp

14 Days Max 5,364 m Mar–May · Oct–Nov ~130 km total Lukla to Lukla
Overview

The Everest Base Camp trek is the most iconic Himalayan journey on earth — and for good reason. The route follows the same trail used by every summit team since Hillary and Tenzing's 1953 ascent, threading through Sherpa villages that still run on yak butter, prayer wheels, and a quiet self-sufficiency that predates tourism by centuries.

You will cross glacial moraines, sleep at altitudes where the air is half as thick, watch the Khumbu Icefall shift and groan below camp, and stand at 5,364 metres with eight of the world's fourteen eight-thousanders arranged around you like seats in a stadium. Kala Patthar, the viewpoint directly above base camp, offers what many consider the finest view of Everest's summit cone on the planet.

Our Map & Mountain EBC treks are led exclusively by Sherpa guides born in the Khumbu region. They know every teahouse owner, every short cut, and every early warning sign of altitude sickness. Groups are capped at eight people. We carry an emergency oxygen kit and maintain a direct radio link with Lukla and Kathmandu throughout.

What makes this route ours
Acclimatization rest days
Two proper rest days built in — not walked through. Namche and Dingboche. We do not skip these.
Emergency oxygen on trail
Every group carries a Gamow bag and supplemental oxygen. Our guides are wilderness first-aid certified.
Local guide, local knowledge
Your guide grew up in Namche or Phortse. This is his backyard — not a route he learned from a pamphlet.
Flexible descent
If weather or health requires an earlier descent, we adapt the plan. Your safety is never traded for the summit checkbox.

Route Highlights

Three moments
you will not forget

Kala Patthar
01 · Day 9 · 5,545 m
Kala Patthar sunrise
The finest view of Everest's summit cone on the planet — rose-gold light hitting 8,848 m at 05:30 while the valley below is still completely dark.
Namche Bazaar
02 · Day 2 · 3,440 m
Namche Bazaar
The beating heart of the Khumbu — Saturday market, espresso, and the first distant glimpse of Everest between rooftops if the morning is clear enough.
Tengboche
03 · Day 4 · 3,860 m
Tengboche Monastery
The highest monastery in the world, ringed by prayer flags and framed by Ama Dablam. If you arrive at dusk, you may catch the evening puja — one hour of horns, drums, and chanting.
