Answers to the questions we hear most often.
The first visit should be within 3–5 days of discharge from the hospital after birth. Subsequent visits are recommended at 1, 2, 4, 6, 9, 12, 15, 18 months, and then annually. These visits monitor growth, development, and ensure vaccinations are on schedule.
Key early signs include: not smiling by 6 months, no babbling by 12 months, not pointing or waving by 12 months, no single words by 16 months, no two-word phrases by 24 months, or any loss of language or social skills at any age. If you notice any of these, request a developmental screening promptly.
ADHD involves persistent patterns of inattention and/or hyperactivity that are more frequent/severe than typical for the child's developmental level, present in multiple settings (home AND school), and cause meaningful impairment in functioning. A proper evaluation involves multiple information sources — not just one observation.
The National Immunization Schedule is carefully designed based on when children are most vulnerable to specific diseases. Missing or delaying vaccines increases disease risk. If your child has missed any, Dr. Sharma offers catch-up vaccination plans to get them fully protected as safely and quickly as possible.
Current guidelines: none before 18 months (except video chatting), 30 min/day of high-quality programming for 18–24 months, 1 hour/day for 2–5 years, and consistent limits for 6+. Quality matters more than quantity — watch together and discuss content when possible.
